Episode 106 Accepting Mortality
Death is in the air this spooky season.
Accepting your mortality is vital to anyone but especially if you are facing serious health issues.
“The things we don't accept are the things we struggle with in life. Only when you accept something are you truly free from it.” paraphrase Sadhguru
The biggest fear with death is the process, the art of dying. Wondering if it will hurt, will you lose your mind, memories, etc?
Chances are if you live to an old age, you will die in a nursing home or hospital setting with how our society views the process of death now. We use to wash the bodies, prepare them for burial and even dress their deceased loved ones.
Caitlin Doughty: “Caitlin Doughty is a mortician, activist, and funeral industry rabble-rouser. In 2011 she founded the death acceptance collective The Order of the Good Death, which has spawned the death positive movement. Her books Smoke Gets in Your Eyes and From Here to Eternity were both New York Times bestsellers. She lives in Los Angeles, where she runs her funeral home.”

IF ANYONE HAS A CONNECTION TO CAITLIN: You would be Jessica's good death hero if you could help connect us somehow.
Our society is obsessed with preserving the body after death in such an unnatural way.
It is so common for the dying to have profound experiences with what they see to be the spirits of their deceased loved ones. Is this something the brain does as it accepts its inevitable demise or are these true experiences with spirits/ghosts/ghouls?
Based upon what we have researched it seems that the dying process, your end of days are more peaceful IF you have accepted your mortality.
PSA: Edibles are TOO expensive for someone to give them for free to children on Halloween. Get over yourself.
There was a time in which we had picnics in cemeteries. We had a closer relationship with death and the afterlife. We would love to see this return. We will post pictures of our graveyard picnics! Share yours!
“Regardless of what the end is, accepting there is an end is where you find freedom.” Jessica
For our fellow hippie science geeks...Here are links to some of the research done for this episode. Enjoy your decent deeper into the rabbit hole. We sure did.
